ONCF Morocco Train Guide: Tickets, Routes and Schedules

Morocco’s railway is most useful for trips built around Tangier, Kenitra, Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakech, Fes, Meknes and other rail-served cities. The practical rule is simple: search the exact origin, destination and date on ONCF before you design the day around a remembered journey time.

Al Boraq today

Al Boraq currently serves Tangier, Kenitra, Rabat and Casablanca. ONCF publishes the Tangier to Casablanca journey at about 2 hours 10 minutes, Tangier to Rabat at about 1 hour 20 minutes, and Tangier to Kenitra at about 50 minutes.

Those figures describe the current high-speed corridor. They do not mean that Marrakech is already on the LGV.

Marrakech is still conventional rail

A Tangier to Marrakech trip today uses the existing network and requires the itinerary shown by ONCF for your chosen departure. Do not use the future 2h40 figure as a current travel time.

The Kenitra to Marrakech LGV extension was launched in April 2025 and is under construction. ONCF says the extension will add roughly 430 km and is intended to make Tangier to Marrakech about 2h40 when operational. ONCF project material points to commercial operation by the end of 2029.

Treat both the date and future journey time as project targets until the line opens.

ONCF tickets and schedules

Use ONCF’s current booking channels to check train schedules and tickets for your exact date and route. ONCF sells tickets at stations and through its online channels; inspect the selected service before paying. Check:

• departure and arrival station;
• whether a change is required;
• class and seat conditions;
• amendment and refund rules;
• the timetable again close to travel.

Prices are deliberately not hard-coded here because ONCF uses multiple fare products and the useful number is the fare for your actual train.

First and second class

ONCF offers first and second class on its intercity services, including Al Boraq. Choose based on the train and fare shown for your trip rather than a blanket rule that first class is “worth it” above a particular journey length.

Al Boraq has reserved seating and onboard services described by ONCF. Service details can change, so check them if a particular amenity matters.

Where rail stops being the answer

Agadir, Essaouira and Chefchaouen are examples of major visitor destinations not reached directly by the current railway. Search CTM, Supratours or another appropriate operator for the road segment.

For a multi-city trip, Morocco without driving is more useful than trying to force every destination onto a rail itinerary.
