Tangier Medina Becomes a Film Set for The Mummy 4

Tangier’s medina is being transformed into a film location for the next Mummy adventure. Market stalls, signs and other set pieces have appeared around the Kasbah and Bab El Bhar squares, near the Tanger Ville port.
A report from Le360 on 26 October describes crews preparing the squares and surrounding lanes to resemble traditional Moroccan souks. Production vehicles have also arrived, with local authorities managing movement around the locations.
When will filming take place?
Le360 reported that filming in this part of Tangier was scheduled to begin on Monday 26 October 2026, following several days of preparation. The report documents the sets being installed; it does not establish that cameras were already rolling when it was published.
The production is the latest instalment of Universal’s Mummy series. Its announced title is The Mummy: The Book of the Dead, with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz returning as Rick and Evelyn O’Connell. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are directing, and the film is scheduled for cinema release on 15 October 2027, according to Variety.
What does it mean for visitors?
The Kasbah and Bab El Bhar are part of Tangier’s historic centre, not a dedicated film attraction. Crews and security arrangements may affect access or walking routes while work is under way. There is no confirmed public set-tour or spectator programme, so visitors should follow local directions and keep clear of working areas.
Even without the filming, the Kasbah, medina lanes and harbour are worth exploring. Our Tangier city guide covers the neighbourhood and how to reach it. For other places in Morocco that have appeared on screen, see our film and TV locations guide.
