English-Language Media in Morocco: Where to Get Your News

Morocco’s own media are mostly in Arabic and French. English-language coverage is smaller but real, and for most English speakers the practical approach is a mix: one or two Moroccan outlets in English for day-to-day news, international outlets for the biggest stories, and translated French-language coverage when something important breaks.
Moroccan news in English
These three were publishing in English in September 2026:
- Morocco World News, an English-language news site covering Moroccan politics, business, society and sport.
- Hespress English, the English edition of the Hespress news site.
- Yabiladi English, the English edition of Yabiladi, which began as a site for the Moroccan diaspora and still covers diaspora stories alongside domestic news.

International coverage
Major international wire services and broadcasters, such as Reuters, AFP, the BBC and Al Jazeera English, report the biggest Moroccan stories, and their reports are widely republished. They cover Morocco less often and in less depth than domestic outlets, but they are useful for context and for how a story is seen from outside.
French-language coverage
Much of the country’s news reporting and political and economic analysis is published in French. You do not need fluent French to follow it: your browser’s translation feature is good enough for general understanding of news articles. For a story that matters to you, reading one French-language Moroccan outlet this way alongside the English coverage gives a much fuller picture.
When the news is not enough
News summaries of new rules, fees and deadlines are often incomplete, and sometimes wrong. If a story affects you directly, such as a change to residence procedures, taxes or driving rules, find the official announcement, usually published in French or Arabic, and read it through a translator if you need to. Television and streaming
Hotel and satellite packages often include international news channels. Streaming services are available in Morocco, but their catalogues differ from country to country, so check what your services offer here before relying on them.
Practical Tips
- For anything that affects you directly, such as a new rule, a deadline or a fee, find the official announcement, usually in French or Arabic, rather than relying on a news summary in English.
- When a big story breaks, read one French-language Moroccan outlet through your browser's translation feature alongside the English coverage.
- Pick one or two sources and check them daily. Trying to follow everything leads to news fatigue, not better information.
- Streaming catalogues differ by country. Check what your services offer in Morocco before you rely on them.
