The famous Swedish company IKEA wants to focus on e-commerce and develop its business in the city centers, this decision will remove 7,500 jobs worldwide by 2020.
Job cuts account for almost 5% of Ingka Holding, Ikea Group’s parent company and the company’s largest global franchise, with 367 stores in 30 countries and 160,000 employees. This decision is more based on how to conduct buisiness in the simplest, and efficient manners, but Ikea wants to cut 7,500 jobs worldwide by 2020, mainly in the administrative sector.
According to the group, the website increased 10 percent, with 2.4 billion visits online.
The group has welcomed the development of services such as the “Click & Collect”, which allows online ordering and retrieval of in-store purchases in several countries, or the “TaskRabbit” which offers a furniture assembly service.
