Al Hoceima The 12th regional craft exhibition continues until 17 August


The first vice-president of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceïma region’s handicraft Chamber, Ahmed Bouhdada, kicked off the 12th edition of the Tangier Arts and Crafts Exhibition -Tétouan-Al Hoceïma. Organized by the Chamber in partnership with the Maison de l’artisan, aims to shed light on the potential of the province of Al Hoceïma, while making the craftsmen shine who lack dedicated spaces To the exposure of their products. It is also an opportunity to promote the handicrafts of the region through the participation of more than 50 artisans, this event is to contribute to the development of their region and to preserve a heritage embedded in the history of Morocco, and an opportunity to market different products and exchange experiences between these different participants. The town of Al Hoceïma has significant potential for handicrafts, including pottery from Iderdouchen and vegetable-based products from the Rouadi region, said Belkaidi, adding that the region’s products are very Prized for their quality and aesthetic value.

The craft sector employs more than 2.5 million workers and is thus an important component of the National culture. It is also an area where co-operatives play a leading role. The 16,000 cooperatives bring together a total of 500,000 people. According to the secretariat of State, the vision 2015 was to double the turnover of this sector and generate 4 billion Dirhams of additional GDP. There is also a question of multiplying formal exports by 10, moving to 300 companies, including 15 to 20 key players, and creating 115,000 additional jobs and reaching between 15,000 and 17,000 very small enterprises.
